The Seine River cruise (preceded by a day in Paris) and then an extension to Madrid was one amazing trip, Wes Rowland did an amazing job of setting it up for us... He did everything so smoothly, and everything went according to plan... kudos to Wes, and although he's at a distance from me, I would use his services again in a heartbeat! — Joan

Naples Cruise Port Excursions

Not surprisingly, this northeastern Italian city attracts some twenty million visitors a year. Situated on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by picturesque canals, Venice is also an amazing attraction for those fascinated by the city’s architecture and art.

Begin this tour in San Marco Square, generally known as “the Piazza,” where you’ll visit its most important monuments:  The Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace, the Bell tower, and St. Mark’s Basilica. Upon reaching the famous Rialto Bridge cross over to the other side of the city and explore the Rialto Market. Since 1097, Venetians have depended on the Rialto markets for their daily food staples, and see why it is the ideal place to taste genuine Venetian food and good wine.

Next, enjoy the private boat excursion portion of the tour, which will take you to the Venetian Lagoon to visit the three important and famous islands of Murano, famous for its glassmaking; Burano, known for its colorful alleys, architecture, and legendary lace-making workshops, and also Torcello, where guests gaze at the splendid Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta before returning to Venice. The photo below is from Murano Glass where some of the most amazing glass products in the world are made!

Enjoy a tour of the city by local experts who have a perspective of this city like few others. Starting at St. Mark’s Square, witness the unique urban life here. See the development of the city by crossing over bridges, walking through narrow alleyways and stand in awe in both large and small squares.

Excursions During Your Naples Cruise

Want to get away from the large crowds? Board a private launch and ride past the homes of the rich and famous and hear fascinating stories and secrets.

This excursion also visits the island of Murano. On Monday-Fridays see an actual production line at the glass factory here and on weekends see a demonstration at one of the factories.

Naples Cruise Port Excursions #3: A PRIVATE WINE TASTING IN VENICE

Enjoy some of the area’s finest wines on this private wine tasting excursion. This includes three glasses of Veneto and Friuli Venezia-Giulia Doc quality wine. Relax and sample the wines in an “Osteria” (wine bar). The Osteria is chosen by your guide for the quality, the food products, and the genuine Venetian atmosphere. This tour is designed for those who are eager to develop a personal taste on wine with the help of an expert. The expert guide will talk about the land, local history, and grapes. Also enjoy a sampling of a selection of fresh cheeses with vegetables or a delicious dish of mixed Venetian appetizers along with the wine.

Enjoy a fascinating walking tour in the Ghetto Nuovo, a small island surrounded by canals in the Cannaregio District. In 1516, the Council of Ten decreed that the Jews of the city be confined to this area of the city and within this very small space.  A diverse group of Jews contributed to both the commercial wealth of Venice and the diffusion of their own culture. As the population increased buildings here rose to six or more stories, which is unique in Venice.

Visit the gothic church Madonna dell’Orto, which houses the huge mural of “The Last Judgement.” Past this restful stop, enjoy a marvelous, melancholy view over the lagoon, with the cemetery island of San Michele.

Naples Cruise Port Excursions #5: CLASSIC DAYTIME GONDOLA RIDE

Don’t leave Venice without a ride on one of the famous gondolas. Experience this traditional rowing boat which has been the chief means of transportation here for centuries. Sit back and relax and take in the city’s wonders. This private ride lasts approximately 30-35 minutes in length and is guided by a gondolier who propels the watercraft through the waters by a single oar.
