Helpful items every cruise guest should pack

how-to-pack-for-a-cruiseIf this is your first time aboard ship, figuring out things like how to pack for a cruise can be a bit difficult. There are of course the items that you know you will need, such as an extra swimsuit, an HD camera, and that to-die-for dress or bespoke tux.  But what about those cruise-specific items that you’ll never guess you need until you’re miles away at sea? As any cruise expert can tell you, there are certain packing essentials that will help you make the most of your cruise. Our cruise experts have agreed on six universal items that every cruise guest needs to pack. To make this handy How to Pack for a Cruise Checklist as useful as possible, we’ve only included items that are indispensable for every cruise.

Happy Traveler Comment
Cesar has been very helpful and courteous. I have a family of 7 so a cruise such as we are taking really does take some arranging with which you folks have really done well. I am sure when we cruise again in the future we would give you folks first opportunity to serve us. — Ken B.
  1. Power Strip
This tops our list of travel packing tips because power outlets tend to be in short supply in cruise ship cabins – it is possible to end up in a cabin with only a single double outlet! If you don’t want to spend your vacation plugging and unplugging items, make sure you bring a grounded power strip with an automatic reset switch. Best tip: find a power strip that includes USB charging portals so you can easily keep cell phones, tablets, and the kids’ handheld games charged as well.
  1. Extra Bagstravel-packing-tips
Extra bags can keep the return leg of your cruise vacation from becoming a packing nightmare. Bring along a foldable carry bag for the souvenirs you simply have to have and Zip-lock bags in several different sizes for everything from bring-along snacks for your shore excursions to safe souvenir storage.
  1. Wrinkle-Release Spray
It is notoriously difficult to keep outfits looking wrinkle-free and fresh aboard ship, since guests are restricted from bringing irons or steamers. With just a few spritzes of wrinkle-release spray, you can instantly look “Captain’s-Table” ready at a moment’s notice!
  1. Lanyard
A lanyard is a unisex must-have item that every cruise guest should pack. Available in tons of designs from jeweled and fancy to plain, a lanyard lets you keep your sign and sail card conveniently close at hand without having to tote a purse or dig through your pockets.
  1. Flashlight
This may seem like an obvious item, but it is easy to overlook. A flashlight can be invaluable for cruise guests, particularly for those in inside cabins. Useful for finding the cufflink you dropped behind the bed or helping you to find your way more easily in a power outage.
  1. Ear Plugs
It can be difficult to sleep on a cruise ship, particularly if you’re a light sleeper or used to complete quiet. Those little foam ear plugs can make all the difference between feeling tired and annoyed or having the well-rested time of your life!
